Editor, Renaissance, a monthly Islamic journal of Danish Sara (123-B, Model Town, Lahore, Pakistan; Tel: 5863408 Fax  5863408 E-mail info@Renaissance.com.pk). Renaissance publishes research work done at Al-Mawrid and other articles dealing with various aspects of Islam. During this period, also wrote articles and editorials on various topics related to Islam and have translated some works of Javed Ahmad Ghamidi and Amin Ahsan Islahi.. Some of the major works completed or undertaken while writing for Renaissance are:

1. Qur’anic Exegesis (English):
This ongoing project is primarily based on the works of Ghamidi, Islahi and Farahi. The idea in this exegesis is to unfold the coherence in the Qur’an through the translation itself and to keep the explanatory notes to a bare minimum.
Work on the last group of the Qur’an (Surahs Mulk- Naas) has been completed.

2. A New Economic Framework
In this article (published as a booklet as well), Ghamidi’s ideas have been presented regarding the Islamic guidelines for the economy and economic activity. This article also presents the outlines of Ghamidi’s proposition for managing finance in the economy in accordance with the principles of  Islam. This proposition is based on the premise that Banking -- Institutional Credit Creation to be more precise -- cannot be run without interest and, therefore, the solution lies not in finding an alternative to interest but to Banking itself.

3. The Islamic Concept of Taxation
In this article, Ghamidi’s ideas regarding this subject have been presented. The basic premises include the assertion that Muslim citizens of an Islamic state are under no legal obligation  to pay any other tax to the government apart from Zakah, that zakah is levied on all forms of wealth produced, save three exceptions, and that the receipts  from Zakah can be spent on all areas of state affairs at individual as well as collective levels. Questions as the problem of revenue generation and the advantages of a system based on this principle over those of systems based on other taxes have also been addressed.

4. Islam: From Revolution to Implementation:
This is a translation (published as a booklet as well) of Ghamidi’s Pas Chi Bayad Kard (Urdu) presents his suggestions to ‘the rulers’ for reforming society in accordance with Islam.

5. The Islamic Manifesto:
Again a translation of Ghamidi’s work Manshur (Urdu). This work presents his ideas regarding the overall directives and objectives of Islam for the Muslim Ummah (The whole Muslim Community).

6. Articles on social issues include the following:

i)  The family Setup
Presents the Islamic guidelines for the family setup and explains the importance of the family as a unit of society.

ii)  The Qur’anic Concept of Divorce
This article presents Ghamidi’s research, which has dispelled many misconceptions, including  those about the procedure, pertaining to marriage and divorce.

iii) The Correct Concept of Hijab
What is the correct meaning of the Qur’anic verses usually cited to support the prevailing ideas about the social etiquette for men and women? This article answers this question on the basis of Islahi’s research.

iv)  The Condemnation of Slavery
This article explains how the works of Islahi have proved beyond doubt that Islam never tolerated slavery for a single moment – that it strove to eliminate it gradually to avoid creating imbalance in society.

v) Marriages of the Prophet (sws)
The rationale behind the marriages of the Prophet (sws) and explanation of the Divine directives in this regard. Based on Farahi’s research, this article dispels many misconceptions about the issue of the Prophet’s marriages.
