Question: What is the significance of Imam Mahdi in Islam?      Answer: There are some Ahadith Ahaadith which mention the coming of a Mihdi. All these Ahadith are baseless and critics know that they were concocted by the Abbasids against the Umayyids to justify their stance. The celebrated Muslim scholar Ibn Khaldun has convincingly refuted them in his treatise "The Muqaddamah".
